Future Government Institute FGX™ G3 Project Gate Check
Draft v0.1 · August 2026
All three pillars
20 minutes · one project · three tests

Is this project building Connected Government — or a faster silo?

Most funded projects don't fail at the business case — they fail after the money moves, when a technically plausible build lands in an organisation that isn't ready to absorb it. The Gate Check asks the question that should precede every release of funds.

Eighteen questions across the three FGX pillars — Leadership, Human Experience and Trust — read whether a project is G3 Ready, and what conditions attach to funding if it isn't.

01
Score one project — a service build, a platform build, or a rebuild. Not your whole organisation; that's the full FGX assessment.
02
Run it at the fund's decision points, not on the project's schedule.
03
Get the right people in the room: the accountable owner, the delivery lead, someone who can speak for the affected users, and the fund's representative.
04
Leave with a verdict and a conditions sheet you can attach to the gate paper.

Rating each question

Green — confident yes, and we could show the evidence tomorrow
Amber — partly, in progress, or true on paper but untested
Red — no, or we don't know
A simple rule carried over from the SPRITE Check: if no one in the room can answer a question, that is the answer — score it red. The Check is not a compliance stamp. FGX is a capability standard, not a regulation. Where a result is borderline, contested or high-value, escalate to the moderated FGX Project Assessment. No G3 substrate, no G4 — and no agentic spend before the substrate exists.
